Get to know me better
Trained by Michelin-star chef Pierre Orsi in Lyon, Lewis Eglintine puts the personal in Personal Chef.
Lewis Eglintine is a local chef with a passion for exceptional food prepared with the finest ingredients. Lewis followed this passion and made a critical career change when he left his law degree to pursue his goal of being recognised amongst some of the top chefs in the industry. After graduating from Ulster University with a degree in Culinary Arts Management, he moved to Lyon where he was mentored by top Michelin chefs perfecting his craft and utilising every opportunity to improve his game.
Since returning back to the UK from Lyon, Lewis has worked in several restaurants bringing his experience of creating recipes, developing menus and improving processes. It was the covid-19 pandemic that gave him the push he needed to create Raffiné. With pubs and restaurants closed because of national lock downs and restrictions, the elderly were asked to stay indoors and shield themselves from the virus. On a local Facebook group, Lewis heard about the story of Mr Pritchard who would be celebrating his 90th birthday locked indoors. On hearing this story, Lewis contacted the family of Mr Pritchard to organise a special meal for his birthday which would be delivered to his home piping hot, plated and ready for Mr and Mrs Pritchard to enjoy.
From this moment, in his mam's family kitchen, Raffiné was born. Since cooking for Mr and Mrs Pritchard, we have delivered over one thousand meals across South Tyneside, given back to local charities and turned first time customers into long time friends. As we look to acquire our own space and improve our offerings to include private chef for hire and catering for large events such as weddings and birthdays we believe we can offer a dining experience like no other.
For me, cooking is...
A necessity. Some of the best chefs in the world have created dishes that are accessible to the masses. Good food should be a right, not a luxury.
I learned to cook at...
In Belfast, I learned a lot alongside my studies but it was at Restaurant Pierre Orsi in Lyon where I really perfected my craft and passion.
A role model in the kitchen is...
Chef Pierre Orsi. The way he can be a fantastic mentor and a good ear whilst simultaneously demanding respect without asking is inspiring.
A cooking secret...
is something I'm more than happy to share with my clients. Good food should be a right not a luxury and I am excited to share my wisdom with anybody.
